Although a lot of his songs have a dark subject matter he uses catchy melodies bouncing on top of a driving acoustic guitar as a vehicle to convey his messages in an understandable and accessible way. He has something to say and he doesn't believe in beating around the bush.
An acoustic singer/songwriter from Ireland, Andrew was a teenager when he first started writing songs. He was based in England at the time and wrote lyrics and melodies for his band, 'The Rain Drums'. From then on he never stopped writing, his creativity flowed and flourished as he developed his skills as a songwriter.
He now works as a solo artist, writing and recording his songs on one acoustic guitar. Even though his music is stripped back to it's bare bones, his lyrics are as full, deep and rich as an 80 piece orchestra. In an age of throw away, boy band pop, where the closest thing to delivering a message is 'let's go crazy, crazy, crazy till we see the sun', we need something with a bit more depth. We need music to make us think. We need a modern day people's poet. We need...Andrew Kearns.
